Resident Assistants (RA)
The Resident Assistant position is a student leadership position that is available to students who have lived on campus for at least one semester. The RA serves as a leader on their floor in one of the Residence Halls on campus, and is a liaison between the residents and staff.
RAs are undergraduate and graduate paraprofessional staff members who work to build a residential community conducive to student success by encouraging students to become engaged in campus programs, referring students to needed campus services, and helping students with whatever concerns they may have in the residence halls.
Office Assistants (OA) and Front Desk Staff
OAs are undergraduate/graduate paraprofessional staff that assist in the daily operations of either the main Residential Life Office or the office within each residence hall.
Front desk staff are undergraduate/graduate paraprofessional staff that serve as greeters for families/guests in the residence halls, promote visitation policy compliance, respond to guest and student concerns, and enforce policies.
More information can be found in the Key to UB: Student Handbook.
Get Involved
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
Every resident who lives on campus is a member of RHA and welcome at each meeting. The purpose of the UB Residence Hall Association (RHA) is to provide and encourage program participation as well as services for all students who reside on campus. The RHA seeks the opinions of those who reside on campus to constructively and collaboratively utilize these opinions and ideas to better the residential experience and campus community. Additionally, the RHA will provide feedback to the Office of Housing, Residential Life and Community Standards serving as the student voice and liaison between residential students and the department. Through the efforts of this program, participants will develop strong leadership skills to be utilized in the UB campus community and beyond.
Hall Council (HC)
Hall Council provides the opportunity for students to get involved in a leadership role and build community in the residence halls. The purpose of Hall Council is to provide quality activities and events that will encourage residents to interact with each other and develop a sense of community within the building. Elected officers chosen each year represent the opinions of all residents through the Residence Hall Association (RHA).
